A powerful partnership
Amplify Science was developed by the science education experts at UC Berkeley’s Lawrence Hall of Science and the digital learning team at Amplify.

Grades K–5: start here
In Amplify Science K–5, every unit begins with students taking on the role of a real-life scientist or engineer and being introduced to an age-appropriate phenomena (see below for a full overview of the phenomena in K–5). Teachers have daily support every step of the way with the print or digital Teacher’s Guide, which contains comprehensive instructional guides. Whether you’re new to teaching science or a seasoned-veteran, Amplify Science has robust teacher support for every level.
Our program structure (see below for more information) is centered around the Lawrence Hall of Science’s research-proven Do, Talk, Read, Write, Visualize model. Each lesson features a unique mix of activities that provide students with multiple points of entry into instruction.
For K–5 units, the teacher accesses the digital curriculum or printed Teacher’s Guide for daily instruction while students read Student Books, conduct investigations using the hands-on kit materials, and record observations in their Student Investigation Notebooks. When lessons call for students to access the simulations or “sims” in grades 2–5 (about once per week), they share devices. You can review all of Amplify Science online through this review site.

The proposed sequence is an attempt to achieve the best compromise between alignment with the Kentucky standards at each grade, and maintenance of the logical sequence and balance across grades that’s built into the configuration of Amplify Science units. In particular, the larger number of standards in grade 6 meant some units that could also fit at grade 6 are recommended for grades 7 or 8. Each grade has 9 units; these include a launch unit, 6–7 core units, and 2–3 Engineering Internships.
Amplify Science is committed to providing support to meet the needs of all learners, including multiple access points for Spanish-speaking students. Developed in conjunction with Spanish-language experts and classroom teachers, multiple components are available in Spanish across the Amplify Science curriculum.
Spanish-language materials include:
